Having
developed the Flexi-Panel for grading farmed salmon, it soon became
obvious that it had many other potential uses. It is now also
being successfully used to size grade farmed cod. We believe the
Flexi-Panel to be suitable for size grading many species of farmed
fish and would welcome contact from farmers of other species.
Having
tried and proven the Flexi-Panel use with farmed cod we are now
starting experiments using it in cod traps. We also believe that
the Flexi-Panel has huge potential for use in many fisheries,
where it could be adapted for use as a Bycatch Reduction Device
(BRD). Also there are significant environmental applications,
as we believe that the Flexi-Panel could be utilised as a device
to prevent dolphins, seals, turtles etc from becoming caught in
trawl nets. (Turtle Excluder Device, TED's)
Again
we would welcome contact from interested parties in any of these
fields.
More
and more emphasis is now being placed on selective fishing methods,
catching the target fish and letting the rest of them go. This
is exactly what the Flexi-Panel does.
